Transfer Car Ownership

This document describes procedure of transferring a car in purchaser’s name.

The following documents are required for submission of application:

  1. Form 29: In duplicate.
  2. Form 30: In duplicate. One copy to be attested by Notary.

“In Duplicate” implies you have to fill two copies of the above mentioned forms.

  1. PAN Card: Notary attested Copy to be submitted.
  2. Address Proof: Notary attested Copy of address proof to be submitted.
  3. PUC Certificate: Notary attested copy of “Pollution Under Control (PUC)”.
  4. Insurance Certificate: Notary attested copy of Insurance policy. This insurance must be in name of purchaser. Cover Note and Receipt as insurance proof are rejected.
  5. 2 Passport sized photographs.
  6. Original RC (Registration Certificate).

After preparing this file, go to the RTO for your residence.

Please carry all originals along with you.

Also, please carry any other document that was used in car sale. Eg. Cash/Sale receipt for car.

The official might ask for it.

Submit the application along with fees.

The officer will give you a receipt.

You will receive your RC after 3 weeks.

Till then, you can show the receipt as a valid document for RC.
