RBI guidelines 2013 – CTS 2010 Standard Cheque Book

RBI has notified all banks to implement standardization and enhancement of security features of cheques.

This directive has come in order to migrate to Cheque Truncation System (CTS) 2010 standards by year end i.e. 2012.

Currently, we follow the MICR system. This will be replaced by CTS.

This system is intended to bring more efficiency in cheque collection system and ensure less time for collection. It also targets to reduce cost of physical movement as well.

How it affects you ??

  1. CTS non-compliant cheques will not be valid after 30-Dec-2012.
  2. Get CTS compliant cheque books issue from respective banks asap.
  3. If you have issues some post dated cheques, please get in touch with your respective banks to make required changes.

Request you all to be compliant and avoid any issues. Please guide others as well.

Update: RBI has extended deadline to 31-03-2013.
